OBJECTIVES AND PHILOSOPHY
The Centre provides consultancy to individual, group and social service agencies desiring to improve their delivery of such services or wishing to set up counselling services. Our consultants seek to enable counsellors to sharpen their skills, incoporate theoretical understanding with practice, and to surface personal issues of counsellors that may be impacting their counselling work.
SYSTEMIC AND COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
The Centre adopts a systemic orientation in consultation work that also encourages the social worker/counsellor to evaluate his or her own work through the lens of his or her own theoretical orientation. Our consultants work collaboratively with the social workers/counsellors and start with where they are in clinical skills and theoretical knowledge.
COMMITTMENT TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
Our consultants abide by the Code of Ethics prescribed for professional practice and they have received training in the provision of consultancy, whether locally or abroad. Our consultants believe in working in a respectful manner and to gear the consultancy according to the level of training. the clinical experience of the social worker/counsellor, his or her desired goals and the clientele with which he or she works.
FUNDING
NCSS member VWOs may apply for funding from the VWO Capability Fund.
